A couple of days ago I woke up around 6AM and there was this star or planet out the bedroom window so big and bright at first I thought it was an airplane. I just keep looking at it and when it didn’t move, well, I just kept looking at it. When the words filled my head, I got up and wrote them down.
I opened my eyes to the Clementine Star
Poking me in the ribs
Get up She said
Your moon is full
It’s time to wake up and live
I was reminded of a dream I had about when I was in my 30’s. I was working in a frame shop in a mall at the time. In my dream I woke up and got out of bed and went to work. But work was an endless room filled with white iron beds. I got into one of the beds and went to sleep. Shortly after that I went back to school to get my MFA.
But these words really speak of the change I made in my life when I got divorced and started my business, found love and set out to create the life I have today.
Now I think of Simon and his daily call to life. Always a good reminder.
(I still have to finish sewing this piece. Not sure about the green fabric at the top. It will have to wait till Monday though)
Lovely piece! Love the poem. You know full moons are symbolic of completion of intent – so this is so appropriate. You just keep getting better, Maria!
I didn’t know that Kim, but of course it makes sense now that you say it.
LOVE!!!
Thanks for sharing your talent with us, Maria–

Very stirring words. And wonderful colors.
I’d stick with analogous colors at the top
Hi Maria,
I would like to buy this piece, please let me know if it is available. It’s beautiful. Tess I
Tess, I’m pretty sure it’s sold. I’ll be in touch if it falls through.
That is simply beautiful!!! (Not a very “exciting” comment, I know, but I just had to let you know how that simple verse touched a chord in me.)
Thanks Lisa “simply beautiful” is exciting to me.
The 6am bright star was probably Venus. A very creative inspiration I say!
I knew you’d know what it was Becca. Did you see it? It was unreal!
I have not seen Venus in the morning sky yet but I’m hoping to this weekend. Last night I could see Sirius the Dog Star from my bedroom window so I can only imagine how very bright Venus was. It is one of my favorite lights to find in the sky next to Jupiter.
I think it was Venus I saw a few nights ago Becca, it was a sparkling red out my window. I’ve never seen anything like it before.
