I just heard today that the moon looking bigger on the horizon, then when it’s high in the sky, is an optical illusion. It’s because the horizon gives us a point of reference to compare it to.
Last night, as Jon and I drove home from Bennington Vermont, the sun was a giant orange and red circle in the sky. It too was on the horizon, but I don’t remember ever seeing it look so big.
Then this morning, there it was again, the light was a whitish-yellow, but the sun was gigantic over the tree line where you can see it rising from our barnyard.
I think it actually makes this otherwise chilly morning picture look warmer.
This is truly a wonderful picture. I don’t even have adequate words to describe how much it conveys.
Thank you Ruth.
