Dancing In The Flow

Dancing in the Flow is an hour straight of Belly Dancing.

There are a few minute or two breaks  have a drink with no talking.  This is something that happens a few times a year in my Bellydancing class.

I could see the difference between tonight and the last time I did Dancing in the Flow.  I knew many of the moves this time, and was able to follow along more easily.  I’m not saying I did them all right, just that I recognized them.

Also, there were moments when I found myself dancing unselfconsciously.

Usually I’m concentrating so hard on watching the lead dancer, I’m dancing more in my head than in my body.  But every once in a while, I trusted my body to lead the way.  It was in those moments, that I felt I was really dancing and not just trying to dance.

I knew Julz and Kathleen, my teachers would be dressed up for Dancing in the Flow so I thought it would be a good time for Jon to come and take pictures to help promote the Spice Routes Bellydancing Concert on May 19th.

(You can see some of the pictures Jon took here and here)

Jon and I showed up fifteen minutes before class started and Julz and Kathleen danced while Jon took some pictures.   I love to watch them dance and I stood watching them for some time before I thought to take a video.

If you’re in the area on Saturday May 19th, the Dance Concert will be from 7-9pm at the Masonic Hall in  Bennington Vermont.  There will be bellydancers there from all over the region.   Tickets are just $10 and the concert benefits Bennington Meals on Wheels.  For more information you can call (802)442-8012 or you can email me here at [email protected].
