Life is Short, Smile and Bless the Day

I’m not one for shopping, but sometimes you just have to do it.  I was almost out of thread and gave my last roll of batting to Kim a few days ago.  It had to be done.  So Jon and I headed out for Glens Falls (over an hour away)  to do our errands.   It wasn’t all drudgery, we went to the AT&T store first to get Jon’s Christmas present.  An updated iphone with Siri (I’m already jealous of Siri, check out the look on his face after talking to her)  then off to Staples for receipt books for the show on Saturday.  At JoAnne Fabric, in the same shopping center, I was blessed by the cashier who gave me a sermon on how short life is and the value of smiling.  Then we drove downtown and got my glasses fixed (something I’ve been putting off for over a month).  When we got home it was time to feed the animals (and ourselves) then off to my yoga class.

So I only got in the studio to drop off my thread and batting, but tomorrow I have the whole day  and I’m planning on working on a healing piece that comes out of my experience at the Shamans yesterday.   All the images and words are swirling around in my head, it’s time to let them out.

  1. That is a kid in the candy store smile on Jon! Adorable. I can so relate to dreaded shopping..I would rather have jury duty or go to the dentist before hitting the mall. But, cool art shows with funky original stuff- that’s my kind of shopping. Good luck with the show, and can’t wait to see your healing piece!

  2. Sounds like a lovely day….you got a lot done actually. And don’t worry about that Siri woman, she’s got nothing over you. You are Jon’s puzzle piece..the perfect fit…:-0

  3. This made me smile so much – the look on Jon’s face is the same as my Dad used to get with his sat-nav! 🙂 I can read maps well but he insisted on listening to the this woman on his dashboard – I got so jealous 🙂 Anyway I was pleased when she got it wrong and I was able to put us on the right road 🙂

  4. I really like your posts! (And sermons from cashiers are uncalled for. Some of them are notorious for never smiling or even acknowledging our presence.) Hope you get in a good day of working in your studio!

  5. Beautiful, happy thread colors! I love seeing this smiling photo of Jon. Sometimes he seems so serious. Now he is just Siri-ous:-) You have accomplished so much today, while I’m in California still sitting in bed with my computer, lol.

  6. Hey Maria, Does he realize this is his Christmas present? Now you should tell him you’re taking it and wrapping it and he can have it Christmas morning. (a/la Joan Crawford.)
    ;~)

  7. I think because you’re actually a much nicer woman than I. I have an evil streak that rears it’s ugly head every so often! :<0 !

    1. Yes, I’ve seen them both, haven’t thought of hush hush in a long time. Think of mommie dearest when ever I pick up Frieda’s unfinished breakfast and save it for dinner.
