A Curious Coincidence

Jon’s Hospice photo of Izzy and Barb from our local paper, now on the fridge.

I was just crumpling up newspapers to make a fire in the fireplace and came looked down to see this picture of Izzy.  It’s one of Jon’s photos of Izzy doing Hospice work.  He’s sitting on Barb’s lap which is covered by one of my quilts.  (I never met Barb, but Jon told me wonderful stories about her)     I couldn’t imagine why the photo was in the local paper then saw it was from 2008.  That’s the year I got divorced.  I’m not sure what to make of it.  I  realize that memories of that difficult  year are overwhelmed by my delight in seeing Izzy, and Barb using my quilt.

It’s a curious coincidence, all those pieces coming together on New Years Eve.  I don’t understand it, but I know what I’m feeling.  A joyful smiling heart.

  1. This gives me tingles, so much affirmation in this photo. I love this, thanks for sharing. Wishing you and Jon and a wonderful new year.

  2. Since Izzy is the Soul Dog, maybe the soul retrieval work needed validation so that you see how it is manifesting for you. Look how good it made you feel to see Izzy doing his magic sitting on your quilt. Hope your night was peaceful and sweet. Happy New Year and may 2013 bring you many blessings.

  3. Izzy is beautiful ~ I wish I could have met him! It’s a lovely New Year’s Eve story and a reminder that those we love never really leave us.

  4. When I hear the word – Coincidence – I think of the saying “A Coincidence is God’s way of remaining anonymous.

  5. Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
    And never brought to mind?
    Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
    And days o’ lang syne!

For auld lang syne, my dear
    For auld lang syne,
    We’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet
    For auld lang syne!

  6. Very powerful. We receive messages when we are open to them, and this is very curious indeed (although likely not a coincidence!). 🙂

  7. The beauty of this picture, and the background about it is truly amazing. I never had the opportunity to meet Izzy, but after all I read about him (I love the book), I felt a connection to him. Thank you for sharing!

  8. Hhmmm…A newspaper that’s 5 years old, survived a total relocation move, lingering long enough in your hands to be noticed before going up in smoke. I personally don’t believe in co-inky dinkies; there’s usually a purpose even when we can’t see it just yet.
May the new year bring you as much joy and inspiration as you’ve shared with us.

  9. Had Jon seen it? I read the hospice journal and the book, Izzy and Lenore so I recognized so many of the people in Jon’s photos. Beautiful work Jon and Izzy accomplished. One of my dreams~

  10. Oh Maria, What a story! My heart is joyful and smiling right back at you! More proof that they’re right when they say there are no coincidences in life.
    Happy New Year, Cindy

  11. Gosh I loved Izzy and Lenore….my heart grew reading that book. I truly wanted to be a better person after I finished the book.
