Go With It

Caretakers Quilt
Caretakers Quilt

I sneaked into my studio over the weekend and finished piecing together my Caretakers Quilt, except for the small strip on the bottom which I just sewed on.   I’m not sure what I’ll do now, if I’ll work on the backing or start something new.  I’m having a hard time focusing. Even after meditating, my mind is all over the place and the inside of my body feels like a pinball machine.  Oh well, who said I have to be calm and in my right mind to make art.  Guess I’ll just go with it and see what happens.

  1. I’ve been a caretaker for other people’s families.I hope I reduced the stress on the caretakers as well as the person being cared for.I enjoy this blog on many different levels. It lifts my spirits to see these pattern and colors.
Also the animals are a part of what I may see on here, and I know they are there. It’s when animals are never mentioned with someone I’m trying to relate to that I am ill at ease…The animals are all around us and my center is with them as a caretaker as well and home caretaker.

  2. It is beautiful, Maria. Just go with it and see what happens. Sometimes the fluttering inside results in some gorgeous happenings! I love all your work!!

  3. I think this is one of your most beautiful pieces. I love the rich, “original” colors. It kind of reminds me of something beautiful created from just an 8-pack of crayons. Hope that makes sense!

  4. Hi Maria,
I’m catching up way down in the postings but I am chuckling about your comment of feeling like you have a pinball machine inside you. May I borrow that expression. I have MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivities) and there are times when I feel like that too, only I say that my blood is all on fire and itching me from the inside out. I can’t sit still when that happens (usually a reaction to some pollutant). That’s when I go to the gym and get some oxygen into me. I love your caretaker quilt. To me, it’s visually peaceful. Just right.
