Our new kitchen floor is all done, and it hardly took any time at all, just a few days all together. It was Jon’s idea to make a design in the middle of the floor. On the side of the room, there’s a line of dark blue tiles along the sink and and cabinets and it bumps out into the room at the sink, like a small area rug. On the other side from the kitchen doorway to the bathroom doorway the dark blue tiles are randomly placed. They are three separate ideas that work together. And ya know, I love looking at it. From now on, all the dirt is our dirt. And I don’t know if it’s strange or sad, but that makes me really happy.

This turned out so lovely, Maria! Really brightens your kitchen and it is so FUN!
It’s beautiful! Great job! And won’t it put a smile on your face, every time you walk in the room!
It already has Pam !
It’s beautiful Maria!! All that soothing blue. You are making the house your own.
just wow, what a happy kitchen!
Love it! And love the creative design. Loved your smiling picture on Jon’s blog. 🙂
You look great in blue!
I LOVE your kitchen!! It looks fantastic!!…great design!
OMG, “All the dirt is our dirt.” I can’t tell you how many times I’ve said that to myself!
Just beautiful. What type tile is it?
It’s that industrial tile you see in schools other public buildings Marjorie, but it comes in a million different colors. Who knew?
Beautiful and clean with a wonderful design. !! Well done Maria.
your radiant smile says it all! The new floor is beautiful and makes your kitchen so very bright with a special creative touch! Even cleaning this floor will be fun! so happy for you! Now for the bathroom!!!!!
Susan
Wow Maria, This is so you and Jon! Beautiful! The first thing that caught my eye before I’d read through the blog was the way the tile was placed in front of the sink. Pure artistry! Kudos to Jon for the idea of a pattern in the middle. His talent was evident to me when he started his I-pad drawings. The room has a whole new energy to it. Great job and collaboration you too! 🙂 Cindy
it’s fabulous! so happy for you guys — it makes all the difference in the world. we have a new shower door that’s made me happy for weeks — it’s the little things!
btw, if you haven’t read this book, you should — it’s kind of old but i’m reading it again for the 2nd time and love it — got it on my kindle — seems like it’d be right up your alley — it’s “Plain and Simple” by Sue Bender — she’s an artist who got hooked on Amish quilts — it’s very cool 🙂
I’ll check it out Brenda. Best to you and your new shower door! (Like floors, they can get nasty.)
I LOVE it. It makes a huge difference in how the room looks – and I’m sure in how you feel about it.
Very good indeed. I had worried about the brightness of the two blues together but I should have trusted your srtist’s eye.
Maria, The floor looks great! Mine is old (39 years) and needs to be replaced and I might just steal a bit of your idea. Hope you don’t mind.
I love to spread the joy Patsy, Have fun. Sounds like you need a new floor too.
Very pretty, my favorite color too. And I totally get the my dirt thing! Have a great time with Jon for his birthday!
Do you have to wax the floor? If so, how often. It’s beautiful!
Yes Becky. I had to use a cleaner then seal it then wax it. but it’s really easy, you just use a mop. And it only needs to be waxed once a year. I can do that.
Looks super! A very unique color for a kitchen, which makes it even better.
Really like the two blues and the three designs that complement one another. Great job, Maria (and Tile Guy)…
You quilted your floor Maria! It’s quite lovely.
Who knew watching you get a new floor would be so fun? I just love it, not only because it looks great, but because it is truly unique. It may be the only one in existence that looks just like this. How cool. Enjoy. You should have a picnic right there on that pretty floor.
I love the floor, and your bright honest smile says you are pleased also. Good eye! looking forward to seeing your beautiful artwork up close and personal at the Open House. I must tell you, I have a thing for quilts. My last BC destroyed mine, and my sweet little Italian grandmother used to crochet bedspreads BLIND! for all of us as children. I sure whish I had grandma Connie’s but I think one of Maria’s quilts might keep me and my Tucker dog happy.
So fun and friendly!
