Win a Couple of Potholders in the Common Thread Give-A-Way

common potholders

Would you like to win a couple of my potholder?  You can, in this month’s Common Thread Give-a-way.   These are two of the potholders I made for the Bedlam Farm Open house.  After the show I had these two and another like it that didn’t sell.  So now, if you enter the contest by leaving a message on my comments (not on my email please,  it gets too confusing when it comes time to randomly choose a winner) you have a chance to have them for free.

I’ll announce the winner on Thursday.  So leave a comment and come back on Thursday to see if you’re the winner.  Good Luck!

  1. Would love to win these – gorgeous. Glad your open house turned out to be such a success! Wish I could have been there….

  2. I honestly did not think that you would have any items left over from the open house. Please put my name in, and I’m crossing my fingers that the potholders will find a new home with whomever needs them most.

  3. I followed your work leading up to and including yesterday to see your progress and various projects. Wish I could have been there. Don’t worry I’m sure someone else took pictures for you. Congratulations on a great show.

  4. Hi Maria, you must be beat after the open house, but what a fun and exciting time to remember. About he pot holders, I need some :-). My husband is the main cook around here and he’s hard on potholders. I like the colors and hand made quality of yours. It’s okay if I don’t win, but worth a try and a good reason to say hello. I love my MW pillow and the messages written there. Follow my feet!

  5. Congradulations Maria,
It looks like your open house was a BIG success! To quote Cher… the beat goes on. Hope I win the beautiful pot holders. Tess

  6. It was wonderful meeting you and seeing your potholders hanging together as a group–they make a “wall quilt” of individual squares. So beautiful! Thanks to you and Jon for being such welcoming hosts.

  7. Not sure if i entered corrrectly-also want to know if i could order a potholder like Minnie with
    Sunflowers- many thanks!

  8. Love to have these pot holders, which are in actuality, great pieces of art, not just pot holders! One day I will make it to your Open House from Canada, next year I’m aiming for it 🙂

  9. Maria, I so appreciate the fact that you use your dreams and awakenings to design your pieces. It is a brave thing when we begin to realize the amazing stories and visions that are hidden in us waiting for a voice.

    Blessings,
    Renae Walker

  10. There once was a girl named Anita
whose potholders were not so “bonita”
    she wouldnt buy new
until her dream did come true
where she owned one of those of Maria’s

I love your art style and how you create. I hope I am selected!

  11. Yes, yes, I would love to win the pair of potholders. Your seemingly random patchwork on the potholders continues to inspire my quilting.
    Cheers, Beth White

  12. Hi Maria! Thanks for another great give-a-way! I wasn’t at the open house yesterday but I was there in spirit! From what you and Jon have written it was another wonderful success. Even the mayor of your town coming by! I’m so glad it went well, you two deserve nothing less.

  13. These potholds are so colorful and cheery. They would brighten up any kitchen — especially mine! Please enter me in the contest. Thanks!

  14. Hi Maria: I’m so glad the openhouse went well, and I wish I could have been there! The photo of your almost-empty studio says it all! Regards, Robin

  16. Maria I love your work. When you do streaming art are you using free motion or do you free hand on a computer pad attached to your machine? I am taking my first free motion class this week. I also have a pad that plugs into my machine that I can draw on with a special pen and the computer in the machine will sew that drawing. Your work is so inspiring. Have a great week

  17. Hi Maria,

I hope, wish, want to win this give-away. I don’t think I told you that you and others have inspired me to start quilting. A few weeks ago, I finished a sunflower themed single bed quilt for my first piece. (It started out to be a lap robe, but I loved the colors so much, it kept getting bigger!) Now I am making one called the friendship star pattern and I am finding that triangles are harder to piece than straight edges, but it is still fascinating to see how things turn out – not always what I expect!

Take care – and keep making your beautiful soul-filled pieces. Millie

  18. Would love to win a potholder-also, would you consider making another of Minnie and sunfllowers? Someday hope to attend open house-looked like so much fun with neat people sharing common interests.

  19. Dear Maria,

These are so beautiful…”mini-gardens” of fabric. Hard to believe they didn’t sell!! Congratulations on a successful Open House and best wishes for your future creative endeavors!

    Sincerely,

    Mary

  20. Sounds like the open house was a great success, Maria! So much preparation and then the whirlwind hits! I’m so happy for you and Jon both, and rather disappointed that I am (unfortunately) too far away to join in! Maybe someday? Would like to have these potholders though 🙂 Along with my new pillow, it would be the next best thing to being there!
Hope you are enjoying a quiet and reflective Monday

  21. Lovely pot holders Ms. Maria as always. Thanks for sharing, selling, and giving away your art. I would like to enter the Common Thread Give-a-way to possibly win the 2 pot holders. Sarah from Richardson, TX. 🙂

  22. Sounds like the Open House was a resounding success for all concerned. About these TWO potholders; how convenient I have two hands and I vow to use my two hands and these two pot holders wisely.

Take good care. And thank you for sharing your world with us.

  23. Hi Maria,
I have been admiring your creativity from afar (Calif.) I appreciate your use of vibrant colors and of your stitchery showing farm scenes, especially cats and chickens.
I cannot compete in the buying category with your “locals” and those who can travel, but I would be most happy to give your 2 potholders a very happy home.
I have many treasured articles of original art in our home and something from your creations made with loving care would be most welcome.
I also live on acreage and appreciate my own natural world and my chickens and cats and wild birds.
    Thank you for your consideration.

  24. Well, darned if they aren’t my colours, Maria…and I have two rather grotty pot holders which I use serving my B&B guests…so throw my name into the ‘hat’ please.

Also, my scarf arrived and when a friend comes in here with a camera, I’ll have her take a picture of the scarf on Emily BigTitz, which it is currently gracing.

  25. Maria, your potholders are so lovely how could anyone not want to enter! I’m surprised you had any left at all! They are wonderful to use, big and thick to keep your hands safe. Maybe someday you can share the story of how you came up with the idea for them. I’d love to hear it!

    1. Oh Candy, I thought everyone knew that story already. I guess not, I’ll have to write about it again. And it was nice having you at the open house.

  26. Wow, Maria, I’m surprised you had anything left after your Open House. I would feel blessed to win this beautiful pair, as they would go to my aunt, who is a ‘lover’ of potholders. Thanks for doing this, Maria!

  27. I am surprised these beauties didn’t sell. Although, by the looks of your empty studio you did pretty darn good! So glad your open house was a success.

  28. I am always sorry that I live too far away to come to events like your open house. It sounds like it was wonderful!!

  29. Hi Maria – what a joy it was to finally meet you on Sunday! I’ve carried the welcoming warmth of the Open House back to New Jersey with me and plan to bask in it for a good long while. Thanks for all that you and Jon do! Love the pot holders of course….. 🙂
