Bag Of Scraps Potholders

I made the first potholder from my bag of scraps, then another.  With the second, I had used up all the scraps and I had two potholders, and didn’t really like either one of them. They didn’t look like me, like something I would make, they we’re not something I would want to use in my kitchen.   So, I cut them up.

Then I started putting them together again using other pieces of fabric that I chose and this is what happened:

I liked that better, but they still seemed indistinct to me.  I made a few like this and after the third one I got another idea.   I thought of the Tiny Quilt Square Mary Ann made when I was at Gee’s Bend and decided to frame the center of the potholder with larger strips of fabric.

This I know I like. I’m itching to cut up the other three potholders and so the same. But something tells me I should wait, that I may feel different about them in the morning.  So I’ll sleep on it and see what happens over night.
