I Can See Your Creative Spark

First I did a single line stitching in red for the goddess and tree and green for the snake.
First I “drew” the image with a  single  stitching line, using red for the goddess and tree and green for the snake…

I was walking in the woods this morning, thinking about the artists in the Open House  and the words, I can see your creative spark filled my mind.

It felt empowering, the thought of seeing the creative spark, as if it were an aura.   The idea of the Creative Spark, comes from the Kabbalah.  I haven’t read it myself, but Jon writes about it often.  Sometimes he reads me passages from it and they always sound to me like magic spells.  That kind of mystical writing doesn’t come to me through my brain, it enters my being through the pours in my skin. Seeping in to be comprehended on a completely new level.

I saw the Goddess immediately after hearing the words.  Then the coiled snake, like the Kundalini, the energy in our bodies that when released, travels the path of the spine.   In my mind, the snake on top of a tree stump.

Then I stitched over the lines using purple for the tree and started to stitch in some details
…Then I stitched over the lines, using purple for the tree and blue for the skirt, and started to stitch in some details…

Each being  leading to the next, the energy rising from the ground to the sky and back again.

I sewed in the words
…I stitched  the words…

It was  at this point in the process that I realized the embroidery in the bottom corners of the linen I used, were butterflies.  Butterflies are often used to represent the ancient goddess.

Then filled in the color with permanent markers and pens.
…Then filled in the color with permanent markers and pens.

I put pink fabric behind the butterflies so they’re more visible. I’ll hand stitch a backing on this tomorrow, leaving the tatting edge  around the sides and bottom.  Then I’ll be putting it up for sale.
