Salt Licks, Something Beautiful

mineral-and-salt-licks

The donkeys, sheep and Chloe licked the salt and mineral licks smooth.

Both the white salt and brown mineral block were, solid rectangular blocks when we left them in the pole barn last winter.  Now I see them as abstract sculptures made by the tongues and teeth of the animals.

If I saw this picture without know what the were, I’d think they were stones worn to a shine by the forces of nature.

Like watching a clock, it’s almost impossible to see the licks change from day to day.  But then, one day they’re suddenly  transformed into something beautiful.

  1. Funny how the mind works, I saw a chocolate nut cluster and a piece of coconut! Thinking with my cravings in mind.
