“G-G-Gus,” I said. “It’s good and guttural.”
Somehow the name Leroy just didn’t roll off my tongue. I could imagine myself yelling Leroy, but not saying it smoothly, quietly.
Jon came up with the idea of changing Leroy’s name to Gus.
I tried it out. On syllable, quick, yet full and well-rounded. The name felt good coming up from my belly and over my tongue. Simple, straight forward an attention-getter.
And when I was a kid, Gus was the name of the man who came around in the ice cream truck.
Gus it is.
Gus is an excellent dog name! I love one syllable names for dogs.
I love that picture. Gus is a good name. No matter what you call him he is as cute as a button.
THIS PHOTO IS SO ADORABLE!! Gus is so TINY, he sure looks like he feels SAFE and CONTENT!! Annie
