I hooked the ring over the nail on my studio wall and stood in front of my quilt for the first time. I work on my quilts on the floor, so when I hang them on the wall and look at them that way, it’s always a surprise.
I took a step backwards, then another and another, until I bumped into my computer desk at the other end of my studio. I felt like I couldn’t get enough distance to be able to take in the whole quilt.
I wanted you all to be able to see the quilt the way I do. From that distance, surrounded by the stuff of my studio.
It feels like a threshold to me. There are many windows in the quilt. Or, as Renate wrote in my comments… A portal surrounded by safety, snuggled up by the gorgeous pinks, reds, and yellows. I like that.
Lovely. A doorway to an adventure.
So you have a portal of the quilt hanging on the wall and
the dogs are hanging out in your entrance way which is a
portal to your studio…
Maria, what a gorgeous quilt!! It has so much one and imagine about. I love it! Tess
“To Wonderland”
as it reminds me of portals and then the rabbit hole
And in much the same way “To Narnia”
This is lovely, and I can imagine standing in the doorway of your studio staring into that portal until it starts to beckon . . .
