Our bags are packed. I have my books, (Sue Monk Kidd’s The Dance of the Dissident Daughter, Zadie Smith’s Swing Time and Remembering Miss O’Keeffe, Stories from Abiquiu by Margaret Wood) my map of New Mexico, my iphone and charger. I just did early online check-in and set up the vacation message on my email.
For breakfast I had a fresh croissant and raspberries from the farmers market, the refrigerator is empty of all but condiments. Before getting up I read Jon two more chapters from Remembering Miss OKeeffe. It’s a small, slow, beautifully written book, filled with details of Wood’s time caring for and becoming friends with Georgia O’Keeffe. It’s taking me out of Washington County even before leaving the house.
As I wrote yesterday, I’m bringing a couple of sketchpads and my computer. I don’t plan on posting on my blog everyday, but I imagine I’ll be drawn to share some of my photos and experiences. I just don’t know how much and how often. I’ve done enough planning for the vacation, now it’s time to allow for what comes.
We’re back on the farm on the 26th. So Adios for now!
Have a wonderful time in beautiful New Mexico! I love the book “Dance of the dissident’s Daughter”. A book that truly transformed my thinking. TerrI
Although my story is different, I see my story reflected in it so closely. The perfect book for me to be reading here.
Have a great trip. We were there almost 30 years ago. “The Land of Enchantment” and it surely was.
