When I picked up my wool in November from the Vermont Fiber Mill, Jon bought a pair of the felted shoe inserts that they make from their llama wool.
They were too big, so I trimmed them and then had these uneven strips of thick felt.
Not being able to throw something like this away, I soaked them in water and reshaped them, thinking I’d eventually come up with a way to use them.
Today I brought them into my studio and put them on my ironing board.
As I was working I looked up and saw the shadows from my windows panes that the sun was throwing. The shapes seemed perfectly placed within them and I took this picture.
It felt like a collaboration between me, the felt, the sun, the shadows, the windows and the ironing board.
Seahorse and a Fiddlehead fern.
Ah yes! Sheila, I see that….
