Inspiration From The Deer’s Jaw Bone

These are some of the photos I took of the deer’s jaw bone I wrote about yesterday.

It’s impossible for me to pick up a bone and then take a picture of it without thinking of Georgia O’Keeffe.   As I carried this bone home, I thought of one photo of O’Keeffe holding a skull with much of the decaying skin still on it.

I’m not sure what happened with some of these photos, why the middle section of them is out of focus.  But I like that they are mysterious in this way.

  1. To answer your question, these were shot with a shallow depth of field. If you shot them on your iPhone the camera setting was probably on Portrait Mode which would give shallow depth of field.

    I think it makes these photos more interesting.
