Sometimes Julz and Kathleen (my bellydancing teachers) dance with the Sister of the Shawl. They did at the end of the Spice Routes concert last night. But they also dance together professionally as the Sahidi Sisters.
It always makes me want to “Yip” when the music gets fast and they start to zill ( when they play their finger cymbals) but they also did a slow dance on Saturday night.
From my limited experience with bellydancing, in some ways, dancing slow is even harder than dancing fast.
It’s sultry and mesmerizing in its own way.
