Today is my birthday and Jon and I are celebrating it in Vermont, staying overnight at one of our favorite places. I’m so looking forward to my gift of spending today and tomorrow with Jon. I’m taking tomorrow off too, so I won’t be back blogging till Wednesday.
I already got two very meaningful and beautiful gifts for my birthday. The first was the card that my friend Kitty Farnham made for me. She captured so much of who I am and what I love in her drawing.
The second was the John O’Donohue poem the Linda sent me.
I’m so glad to be able to share them with all of you. To pass these gifts along to you. I hope you can see some of yourself in both of them….
Excerpt from the blessing, ‘For the Artist at the Start of Day’
“May this be a morning of innocent beginning,
When the gift within you slips clear
Of the sticky web of the personal
With its hurt and hauntings,
And fixed fortress corners,
A morning when you become a pure vessel
For what wants to ascend from silence,
May your imagination know
The grace of perfect danger,
To reach beyond imitation,
And the wheel of repetition,
Deep into the call of all
The unfinished and unsolved
Until the veil of the unknown yields
And something original begins
To stir toward your senses
And grow stronger in your heart…”
JOHN O’DONOHUE
Happy birthday to you! I won’t sing; that’s my gift to you (and the rest of the world).
Maria, Just wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday . Enjoy your little trip with Jon.
Happy Birthday, Maria!

OH, DEAR MARIA! HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! This poem DOES capture so much of you. Annie
Happy birthday Maria. Enjoy your day with Jon!
Thank you for sharing these two lovely gifts, that you received, for your birthday.
They both are very thoughtful, and I think, just perfect for you.
“Happy Birthday, Maria.”
These were beautiful, Maria! Hope your birthday was amazing.
Thank Karla
Wishing you a Happy Birthday. Chuck and Mary
Thanks!
Happy belated Birthday Maria! I‘m much inspired by your art, fashion and writing. I wonder if you are familar with the children book author Astrid Lindgren. I used to read her when I was a little girl. The adventures of Pippie Longstocking kept me captivated then just like your blog does now. Lindgren was way ahead of her time of course. I secretly hope that some day you consider a children‘s book. Maria s adventures with the Snow pussy…fun fun fun. You two are a blessing in these dull times. Thank you!
Thanks for making me laugh Petra! What a wonderful title! You are too kind and I’m speechless. Thank you!
