Studio Broom Closet

As I hung up the broom, this morning after sweeping, I thought how this is one part of my studio, small as it is, that rarely gets it’s picture taken.

It’s a practical space, a bit mud room, a bit broom closet, and an important one.

Every old house that I’ve ever moved into or worked on, even if it was otherwise empty, has always has a broom in it.  And I’ve always taken it as a good sign.  Not only witchy, but as a symbol of the house having been energetically  “swept clean” of the previous owners.

Our house had two brooms in it.  One hangs by the front door as it always has, and the other hangs in my studio, the perfect broom to sweep clean all the threads and scraps that constantly accumulate on my floor.
