The title really does describe the content. And the idea that I’m successful isn’t one that I’ve embodied yet, but I do understand the importance of owning it. I’ll get there.
I just finished reading the novel, Fleishman Is In Trouble, by Taffy Brodesser-Akner. So much of this book is about just what Jon and I are talking about in the podcast. The way men traditionally don’t want their wives to have more success than them and how it’s damaging to both people and the relationship.
I’ve heard of and read many historical accounts of this happening mostly with artists and writers, but it says so much that Brodesser-Akner’s bestselling novel takes place in our time and is dealing with the same subject.
I think this podcast is as much about the importance of openness and honesty in a relationship as it is about how women and men can balance and benefit each other when we can see who and where we really are in life, and accept it.
