After I found the Twin Healing Trees in the woods a couple of weeks ago, I did a drawing of the picture I took of me standing between them.
I haven’t been back to them since then, but I think of them often. I’ve also been thinking of making a fabric painting of the drawing and today I began it.
First I drew a pencil image on the fabric then stitched over it.
I used permanent marker for the facial features, stitched and used marker for the scarf and added fabric for the clothes.
I’m figuring out how to make the trees. They need to be thicker, so I’ll add more fabric to them.
I know I’ll use the same fabric that I used for her jacket for the moss covering the bottoms of the trees, which she’s standing on. And I have a vague idea for the space behind her.
I’m trying not to think too far ahead. I’m working on the parts that I know or have an idea of what to do. I’m leaving what I don’t know and trusting it will come to me.

This is WONDERFUL!
Thanks Pam!
The texture of the tree bark becomes true to life! I can’t wait to see the finished piece.
That’s good to hear Linda. I was trying to get the feeling of the texture of the bark.
Maria, I’ve been following your blog since the beginning and watching your fabric creativity grow, but today you have outdone everything up to this point. I can’t wait to see the finished work! The photography brought us up close and personal, so we can see all the fine details.
oh, and by the way…….HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Well, that’s really nice to hear Nancy. And thanks for the birthday wishes!
Maria,
I love your new creative idea of the twin trees. I hope you add some red to your unique boots. Happy Birthday! With what you had planned for your day I am sure you enjoyed it all.
Jane
Thanks Jane, yes, her boots will be red.:)
A spiritual teacher of mine told me trees are very powerful medicine. She suggested that when I walk through the woods (I do this almost daily), that I place my palm against the tree to absorb some of it’s healing powers.
Oh yes, Donna, I do that all the time. I feel like it’s a kind of greeting.
I do that all the time Donna. I see it as a kind of greeting, and I do feel like I can feel the calming energy of the tree when I do.
