Snow Grazing

Biddy

I’ve see the single line of footprints in the snow, then the area that’s been scratched at to expose the ground beneath it.

But I’ve never actually seen the sheep grazing in the snow.  It’s not that the sheep don’t have enough to eat, it’s just that grazing is what sheep do.

Today, Liam and Issachar were plowing through the snow outside my studio window.  When I looked further up the fence line, I saw Biddy, pawing (or is it hoofing) at the snow, the stand of long dry grass hanging from her mouth.

She looked at me for a moment, maybe hoping for some of the vegetable and fruit scraps I sometimes feed them.  Then she went back to grazing in the snow.
