Do You Know What Bird This Is?

Sheryl emailed me about the bird singing “Zinnia” outside her house, but until she sent me this video I didn’t really “get it”.

She doesn’t know what kind of bird it is, and I don’t either, but it does sound like it’s singing “Zinnia”.

So if you know what bird sings “Zinnia”, leave me a comment.  Sherly and I would love to know.

  1. Yes, it’s a Carolina Wren! Its mnemonic is ‘tea kettle, tea kettle, tea kettle’ but I can see how Zinnia works too. Same number of syllables.

Wrens are my spirit birds so I was thrilled to hear this one.

    1. Thanks Marsha, I’ve had few people request it. I’m going to try and see if I can figure out how to sell them digitally on Etsy. For now I’m going to post the one I made for the Mansion and maybe you can just copy it from my blog.

    2. Thank Hazel, I got the same info from some people on facebook. I’m terrible at distinguishing bird calls except for the ones I hear again and again.

    1. Thanks Elaine, I’ve heard from a few people it’s a Carolina Wren. But on facebook a few other people thought it was a cardinal too.

  2. I left a comment last night waiting for moderation but it was deleted. This has happened before….???

So I’ll try again…this is a Carolina Wren. Their mnemonic is ‘tea kettle, tea, kettle, tea kettle’ but Zinnia, with the same number of syllables, fits too. How lucky to have one in her back yard!

Wrens are my spirit birds so I was thrilled to hear this one cheerily singing.

    1. Hazel, my comments don’t go up until I approve them. I usually only look at them once a day so if you put up a comment it won’t show until I look at it and approve it. As you can see, your previous comment was not deleted.
