I was sitting with the cats while they ate and keeping the chickens from stealing their food when I took a close look at White Hen’s feet.
She is a Brahma hen. Her feet are feathered which helps keep them warm during our cold winters. They look and feel like snakeskin to me. More reptilian than bird. Dirty like my hands after working in the garden, her long claws scratch up the earth looking for insects to eat all day long.
As I peered down at White Hen’s feet to take this picture, she was looking right back at me.
She is so beautiful.
