Grazing The Back Pasture

I started feeding the animals hay last week when it snowed and was very cold.  But yesterday I opened the back pasture for the first time since the sheep were shorn.

I didn’t let them there just before shearing because there are lots of brambles and that I didn’t want to have to clean from their wool as they grazed in them.  But now, even with the frost and snow, there’s still green grass growing and plenty of other plants for the sheep and donkeys to eat.

It’s another warm morning so instead of hay, I led the animals to the back pasture and they happily followed.  They’d rather graze than eat hay when possible.
