A Raptor And Its Food

“I read and saw a picture somewhere that this is the marking of a raptor and its food.”

This is was the comment Carol left on my blog.  And not only does it make so much more sense than my interpretation of the marking in the snow, but I now find it even more amazing to have seen.

Because it tells one of the most basic stories of life itself.  The death of one animal for the survival of another.

But as natural as it is, I’m still having a hard time coming to terms with how beautiful the marks in the snow are compared to the event they chronicle.

I imagine this marking in the snow which was only a couple of feet away from the one in the photo above is the bird weighed down by the animal in its claws then gaining height again.
