My “Waiting” Drawing Series

I’m starting a series of “Waiting” drawings. It’s not an idea I came up with, it’s just something that happened.  And I’m going to get even more opportunities to do more drawings in the next couple of months.

While I was waiting for Jon at his foot surgeon’s this afternoon, I did this drawing. It was a beautiful day to be outside, not too hot and not raining. There weren’t many places to sit in the Mall parking lot where the doctor’s office is, but I found a curb next to some grass with little traffic.

It worked out perfectly.

Jon will be having surgery on his toe in a few weeks and there are many appointments leading up to it and follow-ups after it.  I won’t go to all of them with Jon, but the ones that I do go to will be when I do my “Waiting” drawings.

I don’t mind having to wait outside the office because of Covid.  Most of the time I’d rather be outside instead of in a waiting room.  I can usually find a place to sit and there tend to be more interesting things to draw outside than in.

Jon’s problem with his foot has been going on for a while, so it’s a relief that the doctor was able to figure out the problem, (which is a bone spur) and will be able to do something about it.
