Staying Warm

Issachar and Asher taking in the sun

The day warmed up but it was cold enough this morning to freeze the pipe from the house to the barn.  I was able to get the water running after warming the pipes in the basement with a hairdryer.  We’re lucky whoever plumbed our house did a good job and we’ve only had one pipe freeze inside the house.

I’ve been feeding the sheep grain and second cut hay the last few days.  Both help to keep them warm.  This afternoon they positioned themselves in front of the barn soaking in the sun.   Tonight they’ll push the gravel around in the barn, making “nests”, much like deer do in the snow, to help stay warm.
