I Finished Designing My Shibori Hankie Quilt

I finished designing my Shibori Hankie Quilt today.

I found just the right piece of fabric for that top corner. There was this long thin piece of fabric in my stash that was just the right color and combination of blue and white.  No matter what piece of fabric I tried, I always came back to wanting the same blue and white batik fabric I used on the bottom strip of the square. But I didn’t have any more of it left.

The strip of fabric I found had a hem on it so it must have come from someone’s shirt or maybe a skirt.  I love that someone saved it (I don’t remember who)and then gave it to me and it was just what I needed.

The color is off in the top photo of the quilt but you can see how it works in the photo below.

After trying out a few other combinations of fabric, I spotted the tree material that Fran sent me.  It was perfect in color and subject matter.

The tree fabric

I had a big enough piece of dark blue fabric to surround it and the rest of the quilt with.  Yesterday I could tell that the quilt would come together quickly, but I didn’t expect to be done designing it today.

Now I’m off to Bellydancing.  No more Zoom classes for a while I hope.   As much as I appreciate the Zoom classes there’s nothing like dancing with people instead of with images on my computer.

  1. The quilt is lovely, and it’s fun to watch you develop it’s theme and put it all together
