I was having breakfast across the dining room table from Jon when I got Suzy’s text with the photo of her latest shawl.
As I looked at the shawl an image of the purple asters that grow wild in the back pasture came into my head. The flowers have some a deeper purple, but are also softer, bordering on periwinkle and a very warm gray. So much like the colors of Suzy’s new shawl.
Suzy spun some pink and periwinkle roving in with the purple mohair from her angora goats. The pink and purple come from her friend Laura, who Suzy gets her goats from. The white locks spun into the white mohair (The textured white, which you can see in the photo above)come from my whether Liam.
I thought it a lovely combination of people and animals.
Wild Aster, like all of Suzy’s shawls, is unique in its mix of hand-spun yarns and patterns. And she washes them in a natural solution to soften them even more than they already are.
