Jon and I were sitting next to each other on the couch and he was showing me some pictures he took on his Leica. There was something about the lighting and my angle to him that made me want to take his portrait.
I’ve never used his Leica before, I don’t even know how to use it. But I didn’t have my iPhone handy, and the Leica was right there in Jon’s hands. I also knew that Jon’s camera could do something my Iphone couldn’t.
Jon had to play around with the lighting a bit, but it was the darkness I was going for. I took about ten photos. Some were out of focus, but there were three that I liked. Three different expressions, three of the many sides of Jon.
Jon chose the third one to post on his blog and I can understand why. That smile, in both the mouth and eyes, makes me smile and want to kiss him.
But I also like the three of them together.
