Three Squares Of Scraps

I sewed together three more potholders then decided it was time to move on.  My plan was to work on the quilt I started to piece together last week.

But I had to clean up my work table first.

When I had put all the fabric away, I was left with two piles of scarps.  One with pieces of fabric no bigger than two or three inches.  I knew they would get lost if I put them in my scrap bin and I didn’t want to throw them away.

So I started sewing them together.

When I used them all up, I had two squares about 5 or 6 inches. I put them on my floor to get a better look at them but was unsure what to do next.  So I looked at the other pile of scraps and sewed some of those together.

Now I had three patchwork squares that I didn’t know what to do with.

Until I saw the piece of plaid flannel that was too big to be in my scrap bin but was there anyway. I laid the last patchwork square on top of it and fell in love with the way it looked.

So I sewed it all together without another thought and kept going.  Below is as far as I got today. More tomorrow….
