The pigeon flew off her nest when I went into the barn today. That was unusual, she’s been staying on lately.
I thought I saw a head poke up, so I got on the ladder and took this picture of the babies in the nest. I found the shell of one of their eggs, on the ground last week, so I’m glad to see they both survived so far.
As soon as it got down from the ladder the mother pigeon came back to the nest. The next time I see the baby pigeons is when they’ll be learning to fly.
The barn swallows should be coming back soon. Last year they arrived on the first of May. I’m looking forward to having them back in the barn. I feel like they are part of the farm.
