I thought it was part of a plant when I pulled it from the water bucket. But then it started to walk (look at those little feet!)
I have no idea what kind of bug it is. Do you?

Oh, the little black shoes (feet) and yellowish- black ‘hat’ made me immediately think of “Madeleine” the children’s book! So cute!
Ha! I can see that Amy!
There is an app called Seek that I use to identify plants and insects.
Thanks Ann, I’ll check it out.
Could it be a Shield-back Bug?
I never heard of them Uta, but just from the name I’d say it’s a good chance. Then I looked them up online and there are so many different types! I didn’t see this specific one, but I didn’t look at them all. The pictures just went on and one. But it’s a good place to start. I’ll look into it more. Thanks!
It looks like a tortoise beetle; they are not very common. I get them occasionally at my house. Some species are a brilliant gold color, they look like gold jewelry.
I looked them up Marianna. That’s just what it is. Thank you. I don’t know that I ever would have found it without your help. Now I’ll keep an eye out for the gold ones. They sound beautiful!
