Hens On The Back Porch

When Jon and I came home from our trip to town this morning the hens were on the back porch.

Since Zip came to the farm, they’ve spent little time on the porch.  But little by little Zip and the hens are getting used to each other.  I don’t know if they’ll ever jump up on the chair on the porch, when Zip is sleeping there, the way they did with Minnie and Flo.

But I also don’t really know what goes on between them.  Maybe Zip and the Hens are making some kind of deal about who gets to go where when.

I guess I’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

  1. I don’t know why, but when I saw this picture I immediately thought of synchronized swimmers getting ready to jump into the pool…

    1. I can see that Jill! they do look like they are ready to make the leap. And they did really, they came down the steps towards me as if I had something to feed them. I felt a little bad that I didn’t.

  2. Maria, I love this photo. The red shovels against the blue house and the white hens on that lovely flagstone porch. Very appealing composition and colors.

    1. Thank you Lois, I was wishing I’d taken it in the portrait setting so the background would have been less in focus. But I still wanted all that color behind the hens. I appreciate your comment.
