White Hen in the Front Lawn

Since we stopped mowing the front lawn it’s growing nicely.  The yellow Iris’s I transplanted last year are blooming and there are tons of buttercups.  I planted some seeds this year and  plants from my garden last year.

It will be fun to see what comes up.

The hens find plenty to eat in the tall grasses and so does Zip.  It’s not usual for me to find a dead mole on the edge of the lawn.  I do wish Zip would eat what he kills, but it probably means there are lots of moles around this year.

And the hens are gobbling up the ticks for sure.  I know because I’ve never found one on me from the yard.  They’re good for many things, including  eating bugs, laying eggs and making good pictures.
