In My Studio

My studio

I always think that sewing a backing on one of my fabric painting will only take a little while.  But it inevitably takes longer than I think it will.

I sew them by hand, because I like the way the edge looks when hand sewn.

When I finished the backing of Old Tree, New Life,  I cleaned out one of my desk drawers. Lorry recently sent me a big box of thread that belonged to her mother and it all fit perfectly in the big drawer that had been filled with so much stuff I didn’t even know what was in it.

On Monday I’ll clean up the piles of fabric on my studio floor.  When I’m working I just move the piles from one place to another.

Cleaning my studio is always a good way to get ready to start something new after finishing a big piece.
