I never wanted a small dog. When I was in my twenties I found a puppy and took him in. I was actually worried that he’d grow up to be a small dog.
But I learned later, when I worked in an Animal Hospital, that small dogs aren’t so bad. I even came to love a few.
And ever since we had Gus and now Bud, I’m hooked. I even thought that when I get older, and a big dog might be too much for me, I’d happily get a small dog.
Not that they’re necessarily easier than a big dog. Small dogs, especially terriers, as I’ve found out have their own challenges.
But still, I can see another small do in my future. All I have to do is look at Bud’s sweet face to smile. And that in itself might be enough.
