I was back in my studio today working with more Vintage Hankies. I made another Summer Scarf using blue hankies. This one is for Lorrie, who saw them laid out on my studio floor in the video Jon and I made.
Then I pieced together some more hankies and sewed them onto the shirt that Jennifer, who lives at the Mansion gave me. Jennifer asked if I could make her a dress like the one I made for myself using the hankies to make the skirt.
I have two more Vintage Hankie Summer Scarves for sale in my Etsy Shop. You can see and buy them here.

I love the hanky skirt. I volunteer at our local historical society museum for 16 years. One of our buildings was an old rural schoolhouse that had been moved onto the site. We had old desks and various things that they used in early days and we also had one dress made entirely from hankies sewn together. it was worn by a schoolteacher who took the hankies she had accumulated as “gifts to the teacher”for 25 years and sewed them into a dress. She was featured in a news article about her career, wearing that dress. So we had the dress, given to us after she retired, plus the news article to tell people about. I always enjoyed that story.
What a great Story Melissa, I love a good hankie story. Thank so much for sharing it here.
Love this dress! So pretty and feminine ♥️
Jennifer was a ballet dancer, I think it has a dancers feel to it too. :)
