Coming back from the pasture this morning Jon and I startled the heron who flew from the pond. Almost as tall as myself, he rose up in the mist without a sound, flew over our heads and became a shadow in the mist.
As I closed the gate, I saw just the circle of Zips head peeking through the grass by the pond.

The grass was so thick it was cave-like. Zip pushed his way through, and followed us back. I wondered if he was hiding from the heron, or just waiting for us to return.
