It was a few of the women in Jon’s weekly Zoom gave me the idea. When Jon told them how I painted my pants, they suggested I paint Jon’s pants too.
What I great birthday gift, I thought. So yesterday morning, I pulled a pair of Jon’s jeans off his shelf and with great restraint added a bit more blue to his already blue jeans.
A geometric design around the very bottom of the leg and some squares to trim the pockets.
Jon had no idea what to make of them when I showed him what I’d done. It was as if he’s never imagined such a thing. Or a least never imagined wearing such a thing.
So I reassured him that he had plenty more even if he decided never to wear these again. And that the paint was so slight, he’d forget it was there.
Then I read him the quote by Nicolas Malebranche….
“It is necessary that we deceive our imagination in order to awaken our spirits, and that we represent the subject upon which we wish to mediate in a new way, so as to excite in us some movement of wonder“.
Wear something different, move your body in a new way, listen to music you’ve never heard to wanted to listen to before. Find a way to take ourself out of ourselves to “deceive our imagination and awaken our spirits.”
Jon is wearing his “new” pants today. “I can’t really see them when they’re on,” he told me. But was happy to pose for this picture in them.
(Thanks women for the inspiration.)

What a wonderful idea, they look great!
:)
Awesome!
They look like his wooden block garden beds in front of the barnyard fence. How very ‘Bedlam Farm’!
Oh I like that!
