I pulled this Snowy Tree Cricket out of the water bucket the sheep and donkeys drink from.
Watching her dry herself off, (I don’t know if it’s a male or female) I thought she looked so much like Zip when he cleans himself.
Maybe other people can see this too. And, for those people who are afraid of or disgusted by insects, perhaps they will be able to see them as just another animal, like their cat or dog.

Really nice!!
Love crickets. And yes used its leg to clean its head like a cat!! Thank you. Made my day
And I love that you appreciated it so much LoisJean. :)
I read a suggestion that one should drape a piece of cloth over the edge of a water bucket, the theory being the cloth will wick the water allowing bugs to drink from the cloth and not actually get into the bucket, and thus decrease the risk of drowning in water buckets. I don’t know if this suggestion actually works.
That’s interesting Cheryl, I’ll look into it.
Cheryl, This reminds me of one of my favorite poems.

Thanks for the poem Susan. I leaves the apple leaves that fall in the water bucket for the same reason.
I also liked how the cricket seemed to briefly explore the platform that rescued them between cleaning/drying their limbs.
:)
