With all the rain we’ve had there are lots of mushrooms coming up in the woods.
Someone carried this mushroom onto the bench by the little waterfall to snack on.
Some are so bright, I’d think it would scare anyone from taking a bite out of them.
This one looks more like a bone than a mushroom.
Some are growing in the hole in the big old Shagbark Hickory.
This mushroom looks like it belongs in the ocean
And this one was bigger than a dinner plate.
Beautiful and some might be good eating. You need a mycologist (sp) to advise. Only mushroom I will gather and eat are morels and they are delicious.
I won’t be eating any Barbara. All that Identifying is a lot of work that I’m not up for. But I do love looking at them and taking their photos. :)
I love mushrooms. The last one and the first one looks like an elf’s house. Maybe, if you’re real quiet,you might see one in your wood walk.
Tuesday I’m going creek walking with my grandson. We walk in the shallow part of the creek. He’s 6 and I’m 72. We’ve been waiting all summer to do this.
I thought the same, like iconic mushrooms. The last was sooo big! Your walk with your grandson sounds wonderful!! Makes me wish I had a little one to walk with too. Enjoy!
