Whenever I discover a piece of fabric that speaks to me I trust that I’ll be able to find the fabric that goes with it to create what I’m feeling.
Usually I can understand and explain the layers of meaning behind what it is I’m making. Or the meaning comes clear to me when I am done.
But my Owl and the Full Moon pillow I made yesterday has me stumped.
When I came across the scraps of mustard colored fabric with the bees on it, I knew it was a match for the hand embroidered owl and moon. But then I found the second bee fabric, that was just the right colors too.

The butterfly was embroidered on a hankie. I’ve looked up the meaning of both Owls and Bees, but didn’t see a clear connection between them.
Yet still, the fabrics and colors came together so easily, I can’t help but think I’m missing something.
Maybe it’s simply the influence of August’s Blue Moon.
My Owl and Full Moon Pillow is about 15″x15″. It is Sold $90 + shipping. You can buy it in my Etsy Shop, just click here. Or you can email me at [email protected].

I love the Full Moon and Owl pillow! What struck me first were the colors of the pillow and then the owl. How many places can you get an owl pillow? This pillow reminds me of the coming autumn and the cooler weather and pumpkins . . . . another master piece, Maria!
