Two More Pillows For Eileen

A while back Eileen, asked me to make her a couple of cat pillows to give to a woman who adopted a three legged cat from Salem’s Community Cats.  The same place we got Zip from.

When I first moved to farm country in upstate NY, I earned the trust of a feral cat and took her and her three kittens in.  I found homes for the kittens and Merricat (she was my first Merricat) lived with me for about six months.  Then one day she didn’t come home.

I asked a neighbor, who had a farm up the road, if he had seen her. He told me he hadn’t, but told me   that I was welcome to come to his farm and take one of the cats there.  I remembered seeing his wife walking down the dirt road by their farm,  followed by no less than forty cats.

There was no organization like Salem’s Community Cats back then.  One of the services they provide is to spay and neuter cats and return them to where they came from.  They also have volunteers who foster cats and kittens until they can find homes for them.

Just like Zip.

I’ve known Eileen a long time, online. She often sends me animals videos and is a great supporter of organizations who help cats.

A few days ago she asked me, once again, if I could make a couple of pillows, this time in fall colors,  for Amy who adopted the three legged cat.

Today I designed them and tomorrow I’ll make them into pillows.

  1. That story reminds of a book I used to read to kids, students and now grandchildren. It’s called Millions of Cats. About a man who goes out to find a cat for his wife and comes back with millions of cats.

  2. I knew there were spay-neuter and return programs in CA but didn’t realize there were ones in areas with 4 seasons. That’s wonderful. The weather in the northeast doesn’t tell the cats all year round it’s a good time to go into heat, but that makes it all the more special that they’re making the effort to address the numbers problem that does exist.

  3. These are absolutely beautiful. I can not help feel how woman and cats have been connected and how some people (one so called man included) do not understand or feel incomplete without the deep love from a woman who loves cats or cats who love and adore woman…
