I didn’t know that Fate followed me into the tall, thick grasses in the back pasture. They came up to my waist and I had to push my way through, the vines catching my feet and brambles pulling on my legs.
But I was after the hawthorn berries.
This year, the hawthorn trees have as many berries as the apple trees have apples. I’ve never picked them before, but I remember reading about them somewhere that they were healthy and good to eat.
So I trudged through the grasses to the trees on the fence line and picked a few handfuls, just enough to make some tea. I would have gotten more, but the brush was hugging my legs and it was hard to move.
As I walked to clear ground I heard a rustling behind me. The vegetation is so thick, I didn’t even see it move. But suddenly Fates head popped. She too was having a hard time making a path. But she struggled through.
“Fate,” I said to her, “you didn’t have to follow me.” But I know it’s useless to say such a thing.
Fate will do what Fate will do.

Hawthorn is good for the heart and lowering BP. In Germany starting at age 50 they give as a preventative. I’d love to grow some here. May have to look into it.
Heart it is Barb! And they grow like crazy here. They are all over the woods. I will pay more attention to them now and receive their offerings.

It is sooo good to hear you express and believe that “Fate will do, what Fate will do!””
It is freeing to realize that we humans are not really in control of anything other than our own reaction!
Love and light from RubyMuffin(definitely a dig who will do what she will do) and ME (her human partner taking it all in)
Ha! Marilyn, somehow I hadn’t even thought of the double meaning of what I wrote. RubyMuffin is a great name, says so much!
Hawthorne berries are very good for the heart!
Years ago I had episodes of tachycardia, and didn’t want to take a prescription drug.
A hawthorne berry supplement controlled it perfectly. I imagine the tea would work as well.
oh, that’s interesting LoisJean! the berries are still drying, can’t wait to taste the tea.
