Yesterday Jon came home from the dentist and brought me a rock. Bumblebee Jasper.
Jasper: grounding, strength and protection. Bumblebee Jasper in particular provides emotional healing and stability.
The “bumble bee” in this stone is layers of deep, rich yellow the color of pollen or the stipe of a bee. I can’t stop looking at it.
The yellow chakra of the solar plexus is about inner power and confidence.
The stone cut to a rectangle and polished on five sides fits perfectly in the palm of my hand.
This morning after meditating with the stone in my hand, I picked up the open New Yorker lying on the table, the page dog eared. At first I couldn’t remember why I marked the story. Then I read again the excerpt from a book by Geologist, Marcia Bjornerud:
“The rocks around us… tell us that change happens occasionally by violence but mostly by patience; that survival entails the power to endure and the wisdom to recognize that the world can alter in a single day; that being thrown into even the hardest and most unfamiliar of environments can lead to beautiful transfiguration.”

Wow. Love that rock. Never heard of this one before. And that quote, so exquisite.
:)
That’s lovely. Rocks and stones fascinate me.
I’ve always been drawn to them Carolyn. I’m not surprised you are too.
