I’m walking through the woods, grateful for everything that didn’t happen.

My plan was to walk in my neighbors woods. It’s just up the road, no more than a minute or two in my car. The other car hit me from behind as I waited to make the turn.
No one was hurt. It was a mistake, an accident.

I was rattled for sure, first thinking about what I could have done differently when I saw that the car in my rear view mirror wasn’t slowing down.

But once I was back home, after tea with Jon and a walk in the Orphaned Woods, I found myself only being grateful for all the things that didn’t happen.

I won’t spend time thinking of those things individually. They are the negative space, a white nothingness, around the reality of the accident.

And I have a feeling, that the shock that ran though my body has jolted something inside of me. Because, for now anyway, I am acutely aware of the difference between the recently triggered danger of my past and what I experienced today.
I don’t have words to explain it yet. It’s something I feel in my body. But I think it’s going to somehow help heal the old trauma inside of me.

I’m grateful for what didn’t happen too. Breathe, take your time, you are not going back to that either.
Right! :)
I love that picture of Fate and the maple tree.
I keep trying to see what made that tree grow the way it did. It was obviously growing around something.
I’m very glad you are unscathed.
:)
I’m so glad your OK. Yes, things could have been different and thankful they weren’t.
I broke my upper arm this June walking in the woods. I couldn’t drive or use my right arm for 7 weeks. It’s easy go through the
if onlys but it’s a trap I wasn’t going to get caught in. Gratefulness is the escape.
YEs, no use doing that Laurie.Sorry to hear about your arm.
So glad that you are ok. That must have been an awful experience, and a Sunday too. The car can be fixed or replays but you can’t.
I’m good Uta, Thanks.
Yes, different types of trauma. I am so glad it wasn’t a worse accident. Jon said your car is damaged? I hope it can be sorted out.
Thanks Carolyn. The body shop towed it today, so we’ll find out soon how much damage.
