Two kinds of squash are ripening on the vines in my garden. The one that was a mystery to me (but not to many of you) did turn out to be a butternut squash. You can see it turning that lovely butternut brown behind the delicata squash.
I have one other Butternut squash. I’ll make soup of them both and roast the delicata and eat it right from the skin.
I have a feeling, that like the apples they will be sweet this year.
This weekend I’ll be digging potatoes. When I wasn’t looking the plants all died. I believe that’s a sign that they’re ready to be dug up. Although last year I dug them up early, and lots of tiny delicious potatoes.
We don’t eat a lot of potatoes but I do love growing them and digging them up. I think becaues they were such a surprise to me the first time I grew them. It seemed like just when I thought I dug them all up, there were always more.
And there were. I know because a bunch grew back this year in my garden.
