Suddenly my beautiful butternut squash, that has been growing in the fence all summer was gone. The Delicato squash, and all the leaves and vines were gone too.
I guess the butternut squash was too big for whoever knocked them down and ate the leaves, because they left them in whole in the pasture. It could have been my own sheep or donkeys, or it could have been deer.
Whoever it was left the two butternut and two of the six delicato squash for me. It was just a couple of days ago that they were protected by their big green spiky leaves and their stems were green.
I still have sweet cherry tomatoes growing and one pepper. But soon it will be time to clean out the vegetable garden.
